REMINDER May 15^th is the close date for submitting surveys. Please remind everyone to get them to us by then. Also, still taking nominations for the 2008-2009 Board positions. Please submit names and resumes to Don Girard or myself.

It has been a pleasure to serve as your President again this year. For the 2007-2008 season we did significant changes to make hockey in Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas a better sport. We will continue to look at improvements for the coming year.

One way to help us identify these improvements is to get feedback from the Participants on how well we did and provide suggestions on how to make the League better. Included with this letter is a short survey that will allow everyone, including Parents to provide that feedback to us. This survey will also be posted on the NTXHL website:

I ask that you distribute this to everyone in the League and encourage them to respond. I will guarantee you that the Board will review every survey and take appropriate actions.It is important to us that we get feedback. We will accept responses up until May 15th 2008. We will begin our planning for the 2008-2009 season starting mid May. No start/end dates have been set for the League but we will communicate those key dates when a decision has been made. If you have ideas, please use the Survey to communicate to us. We did do some changes to the playoff schedule this year. Those changes will be revisited and hopefully we can make further changes for the betterment of hockey. One action that we will take is to get with USA Hockey and TAHA to line up next March activities so that hopefully everyone can participate in both. Also, “Hosting Weekends” did improve significantly this year with the rules put in place. Further improvements need to be made to help them run smoother. The teams that are not in the Dallas Metroplex, who identified their weekends and ice times, had an easier time at the scheduling meeting this year. Hopefully ALL non Metroplex teams in the coming year can get those identified and submitted to us before the meeting. Upfront planning is a key for a successful scheduling meeting, NTXHL will do theirs, and hopefully all Associations will come ready. Look for more info on this.

I know most Associations are taking a well deserved rest for a few weeks but we do need to keep our contacts up to date. Please reaffirm your Association’s League contact name and email address, as well as your President’s name and contact info, to Don Girard, NTXHL VP at dgirard@nationalbanner.com.

The elections for the 2008-2009 Board of Directors will be held in June. If you want to run for a Board position please send myself an email at rf.ritchie@tx.rr.com indicating which position. If you nominate anyone please make sure that they are in agreement before submitting their name.

Again, I want to thank you for your participation in the League. To all the volunteers at all levels a big THANK YOU. We could not make this happen if it wasn’t for you and the many hours you spent making this a great Season and a great League for your kids to play in it.

Send in your game photos to be considered for the website gallery

If you have have that magic photo eye and want to submit some game photos to be displayed on the website now is the time. In order to be considered, all pics need to already be formated as indicated below by the time they get to the webmaster. It would be helpful if all photos were grouped by games with the following side note - date, location, and the two teams playing.(for each group of pics - not per pic) Send your photos by email to the webmaster or contact the webmaster for other options. We will be keeping the photos for the most part limited to game/action shots, team group photos (other than trophie shots) and inidividual player stills should be used on your team's webpage.

Accepted file formats include: JPEGs, non-animated GIFs and PNGs. Photos need to be sized in the following sizes: 75x75 pixels, 100 pixels (on the longest side), 240 pixels (on the longest side), 500 pixels (on the longest side), large (which will be 1024 pixels, on the longest side, if it exceeds that length), and the original size. Uploads must be less than 4MB in size. Images on the web will only display correctly if they are set to an RGB color-space (not CMYK).
